I haven't been able to update for quite some time, neither have I been able to live a normal life. Due to Hurrican Wilma we had rain for a WEEK STRAIGHT! It was so depressing, and frustrating to travel/do laundry/be bored out of one's mind. So the rain stopped last Thursday, and we all wandered outside in a daze, blinded by the nourishing power of the sun. We were anticipating the weekend... Here's what happened:

Friday: We all met up in Catherine Hall at Joe and Lauren's house. From there we walked to Paula's house in Bouge Village. For those of you not so familiar with the geography of Montego Bay I'll explain... It was an hour's walk, down the highway, with no sidewalk, with rush hour traffic inching by, and all of the drivers/passengers questioning what we were doing/asking if we wanted rides. I think by the time I'm done with this experience I'll have said NO more than a billion times. Anyway, finally got to Paula's house (after wandering around her neighborhood for what seemed like forever), played some dominoes (I won), a card game (I didn't win), and ate some food. Left her house and headed for Pier 1, a resturant/bar with music and dancing on Friday night. We got there and wandered down the Pier to check out the huge waves from Hurricane Wilma. As we were walking back towards the party a HUGE wave crashed over us and drenched us from top to bottom, and pushed us towards the edge of the pier. I honestly though I was going to be pushed into the ocean. So we were all wet, but we had fun dancing anyway... I left around 3am and Joe and I were walking to get a taxi when we encountered another PCV (name omitted b/c of stupidity)laying on the ground in Parade, more than contented to spend the rest of the night laying on the ground and chatting with locals. I forced said PCV to get into a taxi with me and come back to Flanker for the night. Crazy.

Saturday: The MoBay group traveled to Mountpelier to visit another new Vol. Her house is nice, but the view she has is AWESOME! Even though her house is only 20-30 minutes outside of MoBay it's like another country. She lives on the border of a government nature preserve so her entire view is mile after mile of rolling country-side. Awesome! We all spent the night with her, and took a walk around the darkened country to view the stars.

Sunday: The next day we all wanted to go to a spring/waterfall/river a few miles away from the PCV's house called Blue Hole. We got there no problem, payed our money to get in, and were all in awe. It's a huge place, and we were the only people there. The river/waterfall is smaller (narrower) than Dunn's River, but I enjoyed it more. It was more natural and just beautiful beyond belief!

Those were the highlights of last weekend. Next: Halloween on the East Coast!
