New Miles: None
Time Spent In Car: None
On the iPod: Nothing
Miles Put On Our Bodies....Argh!
Writing to you from bed...middle of the day.
Fatigue, aches, pains, stiff joints, feeling like we're REALLY old. This is our payback for the 'tourists on speed' mode we practiced yesterday.
The highlights:
-Arlington Cemetary (changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Kennedy graves)
-The National Archives (Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Constitution)
-National Air & Space Museum (apparently there is no limit as to how many tools of war a man can gaze upon)
-'Monuments by Moonlight' tour which included just about everything you might like to see in DC with stops at The FDR Memorial, The Iwo Jima Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial
DC at night is not to be missed.
We left the hotel at about 9 am and didn't get back until after 11 pm. THAT is a long day of sightseeing.
It started out rough...Connie lost her barely used, over-priced sunglasses first thing at Arlington Cemetary. (Gina, if you're out there, you might remember them from Vegas.) Then, though we packed THREE memory cards for our camera, we had NONE of them with us.
OH - we almost forgot...remember how we said Monticello was overrun with school groups? Well, ALL of DC is packed with school groups. What the heck? There was a large group of pre-teens standing in line to get on the 'monuments by moonlight' tour - right in front of us. THEN, the guy who does the DC Ducks tour was finished for the day so he gave every kid a duck whistle...a duck whistle...let the idea of that sink in for just a bit. We gave the gentleman in charge of our destiny, the one figuring out where the line would end/begin for each trolley, the look of sad puppies. We may have even gotten on our knees and begged. He took pity and put us on a 'whistle-free' trolley. Whew!
Today we are strolling around Old Town Alexandria and recovering from yesterday.
They say when you look like your passport its time to head home.......NAH!
B&C
PS...Yes, that is STILL the evidence of Connie's pizza incidence.

Comments
Sorry about the sunglasses
Those were VERY nice although VERY expensive. I do remember and so sorry you lost them. I think it is time to go back to Vegas and buy a new pair! Connie - that picture of you is priceless. Glad you guys are seeing it all... We love ya!
DC vs Vegas
Spring in our Nations Capital. Blooming trees, pleasant strolls by moonlight--pre-teens with duck whistles. Bet you wish you had gone to Vegas again.
