Miles Driven and Time In Car:   Forgot to check, we'll catch ya next time.
States Added:  West Virginia and Virginia for a total of 12

On The iPod:  The only Kentucky native we found on our iPod was Dwight Yoakam.  Nickel Creek and Alison Krauss felt right...a little bluegrassey.  Then, John Denver's 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' while driving through WV...loud...with Connie singing along....twice!

Culinary Experiences:  Apple brown betty with bourbon sauce for breakfast.  A 'hot brown' and fried green tomatoes for dinner.  A number of bourbon balls....yum!

Tourist Activities:
Kentucky:  Tastings at both Heaven Hill and Makers Mark bourbon to hand dip our own Makers Mark bottle.  Abraham Lincoln's birthplace and boyhood homes.
Virginia:  Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home in Virginia and Michie Tavern for lunch.

Non-Tourist Activity:  Got to hang out at the local laundromat with the locals for a couple of hours in Kentucky.

Oops:  Barely got a room in Charlottesville on Friday night as the Univ. of Virginia is graduating this weekend.  Also, had a LONG day at Monticello due to the fact that it was 'school day' at Monticello for the entire area.  Hundreds of kids.

Hardship (almost):   A mother and child in a stroller missed being hit by inches right in front of us...and only because Bob YELLED at the woman to stop.  She was walking in front of our car at a crosswalk (we stopped for her to cross), the person driving the car in the second lane went speeding by...and the mother didn't stop to look around our car.  We aren't was just a very few inches.  Shook us up.

Cultural Difference:  Driving through central Kentucky on the back roads a very large percentage of the homes had ... for lack of a better word ... shrines.  Many of these shrines used bathtubs sticking out of the ground as cover.  Really, this photo is one of the simplest ones we passed.

Some of you have asked what we are paying for gas...we paid $4.05/gallon the last two times we filled up.  In the center of the country we were paying closer to $3.70.

We'll catch up again on Sunday night...B&C
