Where I stayed
Monday, September 14th: One of the headmasters from a local school stopped in and is still trying to convince me to co-operate with him. He plans to open another school in a nearby town. I had to decline; I really do not want to get anymore on my plate.
Dawn has found a place that has little gift items for sale and she has been buying a few each day for the shop I think tomorrow I will have to go and see what all it there.
Tonight the open talk was packed standing room only. We had students and locals, over 20 people. I think that is a little too much. But we had some good discussions. They all agreed that this is a good forum to practice their English skills
Tuesday, September 15th: Took a walk along the river. The water is amazingly clean and clear. There were many photo-tourists taking pictures. I guess it is a popular thing to do for some Chinese; they take a group tour just to photograph famous places. Yangshuo is one of the most popular. I could not believe some of the cameras these guys were carrying. Top of the line and the latest stuff.
You do have the lonely travel that must take pictures of themselves. Thank goodness for digital. Then as always you have to couples that forget all about taking pictures. Yangshuo is also a very popular honeymoon place for young couples. The come here also to pose for professional pictures in wedding customs along the river.
Went by and looked at the stuff Dawn was buying. The gal was just setting things out on the street in front of a friends shop. Some very nice stuff to. I picked out a few things for myself. The one thing lead to another and we found out that she was going to open a shop here but it did not work out and she had a house full of stuff and her mom wanted to get rid of it
Before open talk tonight I invited a few of the students out to dinner with me. They had been here for 6 months or more and would be going back to their work in the next week. Since I was going to be gone, this was the only time to do it. Although I got a picture of the sign out side the restaurant window, we got so involved talking that I did not even have a chance to take my traditional "here is what I eat picture". The food was great. We ate at the “Dragon restaurant”. It is over the 99 supermarket. We had a private room and there 10 of us. The complete dinner cost me about $20.00. It would have been more but one of the students told the cashier that I was their teacher at Omeda Language School and I got a 20% discount.
Wednesday, September 16th: Raining, great and we agreed to move all the stuff out of the gal's mom’s house. We hired a couple of porters to move it but it was up to “us” to get it upstairs to the apartment. We decided to move it all to the apartment so we could sort through it. We did not realize how much stuff we bought. It was after 7pm when we finally got the last load upstairs
Had Open Talk a little late and had a dinner brought in for all the helpers.
Thursday, September 17th: Getting ready to go to Guilin in an hour. Thought I would get this off to all of you. By the way if you see anything you would like to buy email me hahaha.
