Where I stayed
The second leg of our car trip took us through another 'chocolate box' town (seems like every second shop in this region sells homemade chocolates of all types and flavours) called Villa la Angustura. This cute pueblito is actually well know as it is the entrance to the National Park ‘Arrayanes’ which are special ‘orange bark’ tress that almost only grow here.
We then headed up the dirt road which forms the seven lake circuit where each bend brings a new lake with crystal clear waters and usually picture perfect mountain backgrounds. This led us up to another charming town called St. Martin de los Andes where we spent the night.
On the way back down to drop the rental car in Bariloche, we took the paved road which circles around and away from the Andes but also offers spectacular scenery – Grand Canyon similarities with tall leafy trees and endless rivers – wow.
