Hey all,

Firstly i apologise for errors, its weird using a keyboard here, the letters arent in the same place as back home! Mare is feeling a little run down, got a bit of a cold, so she is in our room stocking up on vitamin C and rest (so apologies in advance for this update as there will be no photos for now, and i have a habbit of forgeting the places we visited lol)

Berlin was great, full of so much history! (Michael you should really come here, youd love it, and so far the language barrier hasnt been too bad). We spent most our time in Eastern Berlin, on every corner there is a museum or historical attraction of some sorts. In a way it was kind of depressing on our first day of exploring, we visited the Berlin Wall (well what remains of it) which had a ´topography of terror´, a photo gallery on the grounds of the old gestapo head office (outside, under the berlin wall). It was quite sad reading/looking at photos of the death and destruction of the nazi reign/war. Also vistited the brandenburg gate (division of Berlin to Germany, now a symbol of unity).

Endulged in a German meal (and to mares delight my meal included a dumpling, lucky im the sharing type!) before calling it a day (it doesnt help that its dark by 5 at the latest!)

Our second day was a little more lighthearted, we basically left the map at home and self navigated our way around the city. Went to Alexanderplatz, a former market centre, now a bustling intersection of transport/pedestrians/shops/restaurants, and the television tower (kind of like centrepoint tower). Visited the Reichstag building (house of parliament and viewing platform) which had tighter security checks then any airport!

In general we both enjoyed Berlin (and were happy to have overcome the first leg of our eurail pass without complication). Have plenty of photos and video updates to add later x

Whether the weather be...
Hi young jetsetters. Sorry to hear that the weather has been going against you and that Mare has contracted the 'gee i feel buggered' virus. Hope she bounces back and you continue to enjoy your adventures on the northern continent. I must say that we have had a bit of rain here over the past few days and it has been a bit cooler today (top of 18 I think). Do you get any news from aus on the TV? I am off to Tassie to move Matt home on the 23rd Nov so will have quite a long weekend (about 3000km in 4 days with loading and unloading thrown in) Oh how I love an adventure! Will vote absentee while in Hobart. Almost over the election babble as it is so full on but we are lucky to live where we do in the least that is my opinion. Luv you both, Dad
