So we got up ultra early this morning .. checked out of our hostel at 6am .. caught a train to Glasgow Prestwick airport and caught our Ryan Air flight to Dublin. We picked up our hire car and navigated our way successfully (again!!) out of Dublin. Half way to Galway we were stuck for 2 hours in a traffic jam - we travelled about 1km in two hours - and when we got to the end of the traffic jam there was NO REASON for it!!! Bizarre ....

We arrived in Galway at around 4:30. Checked into our hostel which seems nice. We're in a 6 bed female dorm which is very clean which is a start. But we've learnt to not judge a place to early - we thought our Glasgow hostel was awesome until at 11pm a group of annoying teenagers in the room next door started a party. We know we're nannas and all .. but they were REALLY loud!

Once checked in we walked to the main part of town. Its a cute little town!! Old town streets with cobbles and lots of pubs. Still has a definite fishing village feel to it.

We both tried a Guinness tonight with dinner .... stupid Guinness .. it just tastes like beer!! And neither of us likes beer so it was doomed from the start :o)

We get up tomorrow and drive down the west coast seeing the sights along the way. Staying in Killarney for the night.

Will put pictures and video from Galway up when we have more time in the net cafe. Using the free cafe at the hostel and its only 15 minutes at a time.

Love to all!!

You just reminded me of the very same thing happening to Daddy and me when we travelled out from Dublin on that very same freeway. No reason for the bumper to bumper trafic that time either. That's Ireland for you. :) I managed to find a road leading off the freeway eventually which was a great idea as it turned out because we managed to see lovely litle villages along the way depsite it taking longer of course.
sorry about the teenagers waking you in Glasgow. Gen and I had that in Dublin one night, all night next room but Gen managed to sleep through it and then Daddy and I had that in Dingle ALL NIGHT LONG drunk as skunks in the street below!
Fabulous to hear you have the VW POLO for hire. Can just see you both in it. You are going to see some wonderful scenery all the way to Killarney. Lucky ducks! wish we were there. Trish and the children are coming to visit for morning tea this morning, Gen has just slipped out the back gate to see her trainer and tonight Daddy and I have a cocktail party at Vaulcluse for all those who went through the peri operative theatre training course at St V's while it lasted all those years ago.Sorry the Guiness was a flop for you both...that made me laugh!!
Take care...don't forget the maniacs on the roads..stay out of their way.Loads of love from us. xxxx
