I looked out the window for my last view of England for a while; yellow car registration number plates (it's something I've always found comfort in when returning home from holidays) and snow/sleet/slush!
I packed my bag really well, I packed it so well I zipped the shoulder & waist straps in and put the luggage strap around that. It was only in the airport I remembered I wanted a 'departure' photo of me with my 'turtle bag' as I call it.
At check in I noticed my seat numbers had changed. I had been utterly dreading this journey so I didn't fancy sitting in a middle seat of 3 when I'd had a window seat the night before. Thankfully the nice man reallocated both my seats. It was only when I got on the plane I realised I'd been upgraded!
I actually double checked my boarding pass to check I was in the right seat. Everyone around me was well put together, completely at home in the plush surroundings. I only the other hand couldn't believe I'd got a pillow and blanket! Too many easyjet flights I think...
I got my window seat and eventually the man who would be sitting next to me boarded. Then the captain announced they had completed boarding. To which everyone looked at the middle four seats (every row, all 4 middle seats empty), looked at the stewardess who said "it's a battle". Well he flew out of that seat into the opposite aisle seat, leaving me with two 'economy plus' seats next to the window. Luxury!
I even got a free bag of toiletries with my headphones. I got to choose my own dish from the menu (choice of three), watched a film (the perks of being a wallflower) then lay down when they turned the lights off (I had that much space) and looked out the window at the stars. I tried to sleep but I couldn't, my mind was racing with everything that had happened and all the exciting things I had lined up.
Love and hugs
