From Urquhart, we drove on to Glen Affric, which boasts part of the remaining 1% of the Great Caledonian Forest that used to cover Scotland.  The only problem is that Glen Affric is a large place, and we're not sure if we actually saw the Great Caledonian forest.  What we saw looked remarkably like the rest of the forests we've seen.  Regardless, it was quite beautiful.  It reminded me a lot of Northern Minnesota.  We drove deep in and found a little rutted side road that took us down to the Loch, which had rocky, hilly, pine-covered islands in the middle.  We also found a re-creation of an ancient croft or maybe a bothy, a small round stone hut with a thatched roof.  The fire inside was still warm.

If you look at the pin location on the map, and turn it to satellite view, zoomed in as far as you can go, you will actually see the islands we were looking at.  Isn't technology great!
