We started the day by going back to Castle Urquhart. The visitors' center was well worth seeing, with a brief but informative movie about the castle-- which finished by opening the curtains behind the screen to show the actual castle through the glass windows-- and some very good displays of what it originally looked like. This time, I got to go into the guard rooms and up to the tower that was locked last night.
We met some Texans at the hostel and gave them a ride to the castle, since they were going that way, too. We enjoyed their company and hearing about their pet wolf. We came back to the car to find a nice note with their e-mail address on it, so maybe we'll stay in touch.
The wind was quite strong. I can't even imagine how people lived on the shore of Loch Ness in the winters in a castle.
