I ran into Paul and Anne as soon as I got to Montezuma (aka MonteFuma for all the pot smoke in the air). I had been to Montezuma ten years before and it hasn't changed much since then. It is still a little fishing village turned bohemian chill spot, but now its way more boring and gentrified for general tourism. All the chill vibe has been sucked out of it by the high priced hotels, but the hippies still flock there so it was a weird mix of rich tourist and dirty hippie. No offense to either. I did however happen to stay in the same hotel I had been in ten years before. I still loved it. Thanks Hotel Lucy.
Paul and Anne felt the same about the town, so since they had a rented a 4x4 we took a ride up to Playa Santa Theresa to check things out and look for a sports pub to watch the match (I think is was a big Barcelona match)
Since we had all had our fill of Montezuma we decide to leave the next day. Paul and Anne were going to drive their rental 4x4 to Monteverde, and they had talked me into spending the rest of my two weeks (waiting for Tracy to come back from California) in Samara, Costa Rica. Now is a good time to tell you that I had no plans what so ever of going to Samara because of how difficult it was to get there. But they said they would give me a ride to Paquera where they assured me I could catch a bus to Nicoya and on to Samara. Sounds easy, right. Not!
