Day 12, August 2
After breakfast at our hotel, and a quick check on email, we decided to take a vaporetto from San Marco station around the entire city and back. It provided us with many opportunities for photos and gave us a better orientation of the 117 small islands that is Venice. The views of the buildings along the Grand Canal and the spectacular churches along the way. It was a cheap way (5 euros) to spend a morning and tour the city from another perspective.
We spent the afternoon wandering the alleys and bridges of the San Marco, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio, Rialto and Accademia areas, discovering photo opportunities at every turn.
Dinner tonight was at the Canal Grand Hotel restaurant. With a table right at the water, and a view of gondolas and the Grand Canal, we enjoyed yet another great meal. The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful, with equally beautiful washrooms. I have never seen a sink so simple and stunning anywhere.
