Finally a decent comfortable bed and we get to have a sleep in. Everyone awakes feeling refreshed. The breakfast buffet is delicious and while the rooms are simple, the whole hotel is well spaced and comfy.

After breakfast we readied our quad bikes for a day of adventure. Our aim was to make it to the Kouros at Apollonas. That's a long quad bike ride so we jump on and happily settle into the groove of riding on the opposite side of the road. We pass through quaint villages and plunging cliff faces. Our first stop is at Amitis beach, and then soon onto Abram bay. We all did a little beach scavenger hunt picking up nice rocks and driftwood for some inspired art work when we get home. The beach was amazing, all made up of polished pebbles which crackled like fireworks as the waves moved them in and out.

We made it to Apollonas by lunch time, so stopped into the small beach side town which was abuzz with people on the beach and in the small cafes. We ordered hamburgers, tortillas and milkshakes, a decision which Dan was sure would bite him in the ass later (literally).

We then ventured up to the Kouros of Apollonas which is a marble statue that was carved out of a solid piece of rock in the 7th century, but after being nearly completed, it was abandoned in the quarry for whatever reason, where it still lies to this day. It is amazing to think how they would have carved out this 10.5m piece of solid marble statue, and how they ever thought they could move it!

We then took the long road home thru sleepy towns, ridiculous hill climbs, sheer cliffs, amazing views and giant bugs that were determined to fly into our faces. Dan wasn't too keen on the giant wasp that tried this stunt.

We eventually make it back to our hotel, envigorated from our days sight seeing and with a mild case of saddle ass from the rattling quad bikes. So we head to the hotel pool to cool off, sun bake, have a few beers and tap into the wifi to reunite us with the modern world. We are given a show by two vain girls conducting their own private photo shoot by the pool striking every sexy pose they have ever read in Cleo, all backed up to the soundtrack of our sniggering and general "tall poppy syndrome" jokes.

Pool time is shortly followed by a walk into town for more authentic greek food and some laughs with the local proprietors who enjoy our Aussie larrikin spirit. We walk off dinner with a trip down to the beach, then find an awesome waffle house for desert to finish off a brilliant evening. We are in bed just before the stroke of midnight to ensure we don't turn into pumpkins.

Everyone is amazed the milkshake has not turned Dan into a crippled poop machine.
