Day 56:

Oh dear, so I got into the shop this morning to find we had hung up Martin's expensive tec BCD up wrong. Apparently he was really mad and I also could not remember who had done it because me and the other DMT's all did it together. I decided to take the blame anyway because I should have checked everything was fine and I didn't. I thought he was going to have a massive go at me but he just nicely told me that it had been done wrong and make sure it didn't happen again. I was kind of relived to be honest ha.

Back to Villa Sol again today with Maurin. We were sat outside in the morning and I was flicking through some photos on my iPad and came across the picture of the massive tick that was on one of my sloths. She'd been feeling a bit nauseous and obviously they're kind of disgusting and it may have made her throw up for about 5 minutes. Oops. I felt really bad but also could not stop laughing or stop shouting out potentially helpful suggestions like to think of e.g. dolphins or baby polar bears instead. Villa Sol went much quicker today and I'm kind of getting used to being here and have found myself lots of things to do to keep myself occupied.

Yesterday my iPhone just stopped working when I reset it, it basically keeps coming up with the apple logo and nothing else. So I let it run out of battery, didn't work. Then I resorted to restoring the whole thing, didn't work. So now I'm going to give it to Martin and see if he can do anything to fix it. Bloody thing. Kind of need it as I really didn't want to take my iPad to Bocas! I have no luck with technology.

I can't believe that I only have 6 weeks left! It's gone so fast, I'll be home before you know it!

Day 57:

Today I'm helping Tom out with a refresher for two open water students. He wants me to demonstrate 3 skills for them to copy. Two are easy, it's just the regulator recovery with the two techniques to clear the regulator of water and the other one he wants me to do is full mask flooding and clearing. Now anything with water in my mask or my nose surrounded by water are not my favourite things in the world, I also have a pretty bad cold so I'm either going to snot over everyone in the pool OR won't be able to blow enough air out of my nose to clear it.

We went to Pure Vibes' pool first but discovered once we got in that it was so filled with crap that we couldn't even see a metre in front us, seriously worse visibility that the ocean. We therefore packed up and moved to Toro Blanco's pool. We went down to the bottom and I had to give the girl diver my weight so when I had to do the full mask flooding I was way too light, I also found that even though I now felt a lot more comfortable with the water around my face I couldn't actually get a big breath out of my nose at all. It only took me two attempts to clear it though, stupid cold. I did the regulator recovery well but I was still too light so I went off to get weights for everyone.

We finished up and Tom gave me some pointers for next time and I spent the rest of the day doing general shop stuff although I did write a blog for the rich coast blog and helped Brenda with a new package for younger people so we can hopefully draw a younger crowd to Playa Coco and hopefully get them diving.

After work I went with Zack to meet Guayo and Ron for a drink and soon all of the people doing the IDC came along with Martin, Brenda, Laura and Taylor. Ron bought a huge bottle of chilli for everyone (literally alcohol, salt and chilli-Aimee it's literally you're 3 favourite things in one!) have to admit that it's not exactly my favourite drink and I managed to politely decline all but one shot of it. By the end of happy hour I had, had two margaritas, a shot and three beers and only three tiny chicken legs. I then had to ride my bike home with a shopping bag on each handle probably slightly tipsy and certainly feeling very much like a local person haha.
