Finally back at work after being quarantined! Usually I would be really happy with sick days but it's kind of boring here! Much more fun to be diving really. I was just working in the shop today which was probably a good idea as the cycle to work nearly killed me again. That's probably one I the worst things about being ill, the being weak and kittenish afterwards.
Sundays at the shop are usually really quiet, it's quite nice actually. Peaceful! I pretty much spent the day helping Brenda play scrabble against Martin, which was slightly hard considering the fact we never got vowels, and reading my underwater photography book. The book is a bit funny to be honest as it is largely a photography for dummies part in a lot of sections
After work I finally had my hoop lesson that got cancelled a week ago. It was nice doing some exercise on the beach (and there were puppies!) and I learnt a lot. Although some of it was so difficult! Going to take a lot of practice to get some of it though. When we'd finished I cycled down to meet Laura and her friend Gary for a drink at beach bums and we all decided to go for dinner at a local Italian restaurant. I was really excited because they had carbonara but it was not great :( thankfully the pizza was amazing! It's been a really nice day actually!
Ahhh it's navigation day! Had a bit of an earlier start as I usually do on a course day. Still getting knackered cycling to work, I'm beginning to think that I need to oil my bike again as it's way too much work at the moment!
We started today by going through the knowledge reviews and I found it slightly concerning that I seemed to know more of the answers than a particular person who was doing his instructor part of the course
Wonderfully today we had our very own boat all to ourselves with no customers, it was lovely! Not that I hate hanging out with the customers but its nice having your own schedule and just relaxing on the boat. The navigation diving however was not so successful. We went down on the line and the visibility was soooo bad, as in you could only see 0.5m -1m in front of you. This is obviously great for actual navigation but not so great for teaching people to navigate. So after about 15 minutes we came up and decided to cancel it. We did however decide to do a navigational swim to a cave, work out how far it was using kick cycles and then swim back to the boat. This proved to be pretty fun and I managed to practice natural navigation under the water thanks to the awful visibility! And guess what, I totally made it to the cave and we beat the others who didn't make it, boom!!! So the day wasn't a complete waste which was good. Take two tomorrow instead!
We got back and did a de-briefing and washed our gear out
Other than the fact I cooked the most amazing steak dinner later I think that was pretty much my day!
