We got to the tour office and I enjoyed a very nutritional breakfast of a banana and a cadburys bar. Ester had started feeling bad again so I suggested jumping in the water as that always makes you feel better. So she literally stripped off and jumped off the boat, the captain came along and told her, "no snorkelling here, later". I don't think he got what we were trying to achieve!
The boat was a little rough on the way out and Ester almost lost her bikini top a few times, ala Simone Rogers, Mexico 2008! I pointed out that at least she was too afraid of dying to feel sick at the moment. We got to the snorkelling place and found the tour was only in Spanish. This didn't really bother me as I'm more than used to this happening and I can at least understand most Spanish now. Ester though was really pissed off about and had a bit of a go at the Captain. This progressed when we stopped at this restaurant right by the snorkelling. No one wanted anything but the captain decided he wanted to chat with his buddies. This was obviously very annoying and Ester was very vocal about it. At first I thought it was a bit rude/awkward but then I realised she just said what everyone else probably wanted to say. I'd be bitching about it in my head, although today I didn't care, but I wouldn't actually say anything. The snorkelling was actually really cool. The coral was SO colourful. More so than anywhere else I've been, it was like neon colours! I also saw two French Angelfish which I've only ever seen diving and I love them. Getting back onto the boat was fun as their portable stairs were shit and basically sat diagonal against the side of the boat so you literally had to haul yourself onto it like some beached whale. After beaching ourselves fully on the boat we headed to dolphin bay. Luckily we were the only boat there and hurrah we totally saw dolphins! Maybe 7? AND we saw babies with mummy dolphin! Very cute. The nice ladies who we were doing the trip with had totally come prepared with food and nicely gave us some of this beetroot, potato salad thing. It was good!
After we went to Red Frog beach which was so nice! Really clear water but waves, and just generally a nice beach. Unfortunately we were only there for an hour and then oddly we arrived back at Bocas Town. We were a tad confused, as far as I was aware we were a) meant to be back at 5-5:30 and b) we were definitely meant to go to 4 places. I even double checked on the board when we came into town and it was four places. Fishy...We spoke to James who works at the hostel, who spoke to Eddie. We were meant to go to four places and come back later but we didn't!! It was actually really annoying as we'd paid the same as everyone else but had a much shorter trip. Eddie told us he couldn't get any money back for us but could get us another trip for cheaper...why would we want this?! That made me more annoyed. I totally could have spent longer on Red Frog beach even if we didn't go snorkelling again, we only had an hour there. ANNOYING. Then I remembered that we were in Central America, in a touristy place and I probably should be used to being ripped off by now. And we saw dolphins so that was pretty cool. As I said to Ester, there's just no point getting annoyed about it because there's literally nothing you can do even though it's obviously really unfair. We went to talk to the people who owned the place anyway and Ester is going to talk to them tomorrow after I've left.
Spent the rest of the afternoon doing computer stuff and stole a large portion of Riley's lunch. Sorry I was hungry and it was good! I then went out and bought the same ingredients and made my own, I swear it never tastes as good when you make it yourself. We met up briefly with the Swedish girls before Ester and I headed off the Sea Festival on one of the beaches. It was basically lots of stalls, games, a fair etc and weirdly a fully built disco with cube lights outside. Random! Ester did a bit of shopping and at one point we were at a jewellery stall. I had tried on a few bracelets and rings but I really liked this one bracelet that he would only sell as part of a set. He got annoyed when I didn't buy anything and I told him I wanted the bracelet but he still would only sell it as a set...which I didn't want! Ester was 100% going to buy some feather earrings from there but as they had no mirror she wanted to see what they looked like against my ear as we both have blonde hair. She had literally tested one pair when the horrid, grumpy shop owner came up, ripped the earring board out of her hands and started shouting at us saying we weren't going to buy anything when we just WERE. There was another guy who worked there and he obviously felt a bit bad for us and knew the guy was being a dick. But seriously who does that, it's not my fault if you're not going to budge on something I would be or start screaming at us when we were going to buy something. Fucking tool.
