Alas when I got up she wasn't touching any so I couldn't shout at her, damn. I've discovered that I like shouting at people when they're doing something wrong, it's so fun! She went downstairs and I was going to go for breakfast but decided to loop round and go upstairs again. There she was leaning in on the red chain to Buttercups area. I decided not to say anything, she was obviously leaning over where she was meant to be but she was just taking photos. I hid round the side of Gigia's cage and kept one eye on her. Then I saw her reach out and touch Buttercup so I stepped out and said, firmly but polite, "can you not touch the sloths and you are too close, that red line is there for a reason!" Regrettably she didn't speak too much English but she got the point. I waited for someone else to get there and watch her and Ursula told me she thought this woman was Chris the new volunteer as she'd been there for an hour and they weren't even open yet! I gave Gigia full permission to bite her and secretly hoped she would try and stuff her fingers in there. I actually love telling them off, it's too fun. Yesterday a group of tourists were right up against Gigia's cage so I sternly told them they needed to back up. No one goes near my baby! Later the toucher went on a tour and was there when we did baby time. Apparently she asked if she could touch the babies, uh no! Dusty and Brittany had two juveniles, Arthur and Cheyanne out on the jungle gym and she kept putting her hand in Arthurs face. Dusty almost told her to leave. WHEN WILL THEY LEARN.
After the absolute dream that Priscilla was yesterday I even said to Claire I might not need her but to come for back up anyway. How wrong I was. I'd wanted to do it as close to feeding time as possible which I have discovered is the worst time ever. She was really active and wanting food and I just couldn't get any blood out of her! When I did she'd move or smudge it and I just couldn't do it! She eventually got too worked up so I decided to just do it tomorrow morning. Fail.
Today was pretty awesome in the fact that Pip gave me tons of kisses today! Seriously I need to steal her she is too adorable! I get a definite brownie point as I noticed Wookie, a sloth in section 5 had an eye problem. I should definitely just be a vet assistant here. Because obviously I have years of experience :P
Shockingly we finished nearly on time today. Daniella made a funny comment earlier joking about how people start a bit later and then moan that they finish late. I was like well yeah when all of you start back from breakfast at 9:00-9:15 instead of 8:30 every day we're gonna get behind. She apparently hadn't realised this as she was like, "really?!", yes my friend it is just me and Claire usually. They have started coming back earlier though which is good.
We have a new German girl named Chris. She's not a bad worker at all, maybe a bit slow but she's new, but she is not so great with the sloths. I love my section, don't get me wrong but they are not the nicest of sloths. Most of them took at least 10 days to warm to me and their affection is opening their mouths at me and trying to shove my hand in their mouths. We bond well and they love me now but Chris is petrified of them. Joy, who is a bit feisty, hissed at her, and she was literally terrified trying to get their plates. I therefore had to go in and play with Joy while she cleaned. Next she went to Stephany and Cosmo, Stephany had managed to get one hand on the outside of the door and so I took it off. They don't like being touched like that so she hissed and opened her mouth and Chris literally jumped 10 feet in the air. That kind of behaviour my friends is what gets you bitten. Even worse next, she went to do Benny and Xena, all Benny did was open his mouth and she got out of the cage, shut the door and said, "I'm really scared". Oh. Dear. Seriously for her, mine is beyond the worst section for her, like I said I adore my sloths but they are grumpy. I'm going to suggest to Claire tomorrow that we move her. They will 100% bite her.
After work I played vet again as a bat literally fell from the ceiling in front of me and I got it going again. Then literally a bit later when I was doing some crafts a hummingbird flew into the glass door. Me and Brittany put it in a box with some flowers and eventually got it going again, so happy it didn't die!
Afterwards I was speaking to Judy and basically said to her that I really want to come back in a few months and stay for a long time in maybe January when I've earned some money. Her response was a bit confusing, I was obviously hoping that she would be overjoyed and be like yes! However although she said she really wants me to come back she's recently had Dusty and Jorge here for over 3 months when they were meant to be here for two weeks and have ended up staying for free. I think they've also been asked to leave, not in like a bad way but that they've done what they need to and Judy thinks that's enough because she told me that they're leaving two days after me. Dusty hasn't told anyone this and I definitely don't think that was their original plan. I promised not to say anything anyway but now I want to tell everyone and keep almost asking them questions about where they're going next. It's kind of weird though that they haven't told anyone though right?
Anyway back to me coming back here, basically she was saying how volunteers need to pay there way etc as it's a really important part of the income for the sanctuary. Maybe we can try and work something out like what I'm doing now at $25 a day. Who knows. That means I need $3000 people, let's get on it! I will be starting a donation page to send me back here, all of the money goes to the sanctuary but it means I can come back here. Help meeeeeee!!
Afterwards we watched New Moon in the projection room. Was pretty awesome. I made everyone laugh by constantly pausing the movie during Taylor Lautner's naked moments or rewinding it. Sam you would be so proud!
