So 3rd day at the Sloth Sanctuary and I wake feeling pretty horrendous and shaky. I also have a completely blocked nose, ear and sore throat. JOY. Of course I bought no cold medicine with me and I'm reluctant to use my sudofed as it's for diving. So I headed down to the enclosures to do a light clean of my section. Wonderfully two of them had pooed on their platform which apparently I have to clean, so I decided to do that last! By doing so Santiago, one of the guys who cleans the cages, had kindly done it, score!

Definitely getting some favourites out of my lot, some of them always come to greet me and give me 'kisses' and some are just super cheeky and get right in your face. I am however majorly jealous of Yvettes section as she has all of the three fingered sloths who are wayyyy more cuddly/affectionate and you don't have to worry about them biting you ever. Which is always handy when you have a sloth in your face.

By the time we got to vegetable peeling I was feeling pretty woozy so sat down on a chair to do it. Unfortunately I ended up being on the weird potato like vegetable which takes the longest so ended up running into breaking peeling the fuckers. Hope you appreciate them sloths! Apparently it's a 'putzy' job according to Linda which is supposedly a German word for a job that's fiddly and annoying. According to Bettina and Jens, it is not a German word at all, and neither is Snigglefritz (someone who is mischievous but cute). She was told they were German apparently! They've now become basic vocabulary for us at the sanctuary, as well as vegetable peeling puns like Barro White and 'don't peel me this way' (don't leave me this way), mostly from Jens. It gets us by!

After my feeding time (with some NUTELLA thanks to Yvette) we feed the sloths. This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the day, they all get so excited for food! Actually any time with the sloths is awesome, anytime I'm sorting out vegetables is less exciting. When I was sorting leaves, Samantha (one of the three fingered sloths) was putting both her arms out through her cage. She basically wanted to be picked up and Claire said that I could take her out for sloth play time. See the three fingered are so cute! Most of them have been reared since they were babies though which is why they are so affectionate as they're used to being handled. I definitely want to steal Samantha she literally didn't want to do anything other than be held and walked around. Everytime I tried to put her on the sloth jungle jim she kept reaching back and climbing onto me. So. Cute. Claire eventually made her go on but she kept reaching for me but I wasn't allowed to take her back until she'd been on it for a bit :( Hugging a sloth is pretty damn awesome, its like having a live teddy bear.

After lunch I did the proper clean of my section and discovered that some of my crew weren't doing so well. Gi, one of my favourites, has mange, Zoey has pulled out some of her hair and has a sore and another favourite Niama, who has recently come from the nursery has worms. Poor things. I'm actually a little worried about Zoey as she seems a bit uninterested in her food and is hardly moving. I went to check on her later and she still had moved or eaten, hopefully she's fine I'll have to see tomorrow.

The one thing that annoys me here is the food. Tonight we had rice and cooked vegetables for dinner, although it's our smaller meal over lunch this still is a bit crap. Especially when I'm paying $80 a day. We have to buy anything else they don't provide on top of this and I found out today that having bananas for breakfast is actually a treat... Whatttttttt. I literally cannot live on a diet of beans, bread and rice for 10 days. So the food thing is definitely not great. It has since got way, way better though. I think that after a day of no dinner and then I guess an 'off' dinner I just thought it was going to always be like that! Thank god it wasn't!

I have also been bitten by a gazillion mosquitos, 11 of which are on just one patch of my thigh. Ironically most of my bites are a) where I was covered by clothes, b) clothes that were covered in permethian (super clothe repellent) and c) where i was actually wearing tons of repellent compared to my upper body that had none due to not being allowed it because of othe sloths and I had bare skin. Stupid fucking things. So now I'm super itchy AND ill. Other than that loving the sloth time!
