Had to get up at 8am for my missed pedicure after a late night, tired! I also then had to sit in the sun for nearly an hour while she did it, which at 8 in the morning is still absolutely baking. End result was pretty good though just wish I hadn't had to get up so early/sweated to death to get it. Saw Tim at breakfast looking pretty worse for wear, apparently all the others are still very asleep and clearly not going to Costa Rica!

Finally going horse riding today. It was meant to be just me but two other people joined on at the last minute and then their friend decided she wanted to come as we were leaving. So my trip got hijacked a bit! My horse is so freaking slow on the road, she would only do a slow walk and would only walk quicker when her owner was nearby. Whenever I got her to go fast it was for two seconds before slowing again. I was therefore so far behind everyone on the way to the petroglyphs (and for the rest of the day), I swear I always manage to get the shot horse! On the way to the petroglyphs (pre-Colombian artefacts) a massive 4x4 stopped ahead of me and some guy got out and asked if they could take a photo with me. I was like, "Are you serious, I'm on a fucking horse! No." As I slowly (thanks to dickhead horse) walked past them and said this they took photos, idiots.

We got to the petroglyphs and I was already fed up with my horse. We went and paid for our ticket and then discovered that all of the petroglyphs were actually outside the ticket place, so we could of done it for free. Our horse guy/guide took us round them and explained a bit about them. I said to the others roughly what he'd said, I definitely didn't get all of it though, and one of the people I was with asked if i'd done Spanish for A LEVEL. Seriously I'm so impressed with my Spanish prowess, but people often think I'm better than I actually am!

After the petroglyphs we went to Santo Domingo, the nearby beach where all of the horses went straight into the water, which was fair enough most of them were thirsty, not that mine had done any work. I threw my bag off onto the sand on the way in though as at first I had no idea how far in she'd go. Then knob end decided to splash me loads completely filling my boot with water, you may say she was cooling off but none of the other horses did it that aggressively and I swear she did it maliciously.

So my horse spent the entire time on the road being slow but as soon as we were on the beach she was always in front and then decided to gallop off despite the fact I was yanking on her reigns. Every since I fell off in a similar circumstance and really hurt my back I've been a bit nervous about going really quick as well so I was a little worried. Luckily I didn't fall of and got her to slow eventually. Idiot horse. We then got back on the road, where she slowed to snail pace again (I'd given up by this point), to go to the springs which were really pretty and cooling!

Then the fun trip back. First my horse spooked at the sound of a gate closing and ran foreword, then she did it again with a van. By this point I was like oh god we've got the beach again. So I shortened my reigned loads and told our guide that two of us didn't want to go fast but just chill looking at stuff or trot a bit. My horse totally had other ideas. We got onto the beach and as soon as we had she tried to bolt off. I reigned her in and she started trying to run off again, so she started to rear up loads and was doing a combo of trying to run/rear. I felt totally unsafe and told the guide I wanted to stop for a second, she kept doing it at which point I was like she is just going to throw me off, bolt or both and I don't feel safe on her at all, so I got off. I have never in my life ever felt that I needed to get off a horse because I didn't feel safe, ever. But my horse was a right dick with an attitude problem and I knew that if I didn't get off I might get injured and I wasn't risking that.

I handed her over to my guide who lost his horse in the process and she was doing the exact same thing to him, rearing up etc. I had to get back to the hotel by foot and only had half an hour to do it in as I was meant to be going on a fishing tour with the others. It was 1.5km away. Decided to try an hitchhike but of course there were hardly any bikes/cars on my side and when there was there was no room for me. Finally about half a km away I managed to get picked up by a van, praying I wouldn't be kidnapped but risking it anyway. Thankfully I got back fine to see that the others on the horses had got back at the same time. Apparently Sarah, the other girl who wanted to go slower, had been overtaken by a wild horse, hers had gone made and galloped full pelt into the lake. Seriously what's wrong with these horses, she had never ridden before to be fair so I felt kind of bad for her. When we got down to the hotel, dragon, the guy who booked it was there asked how it went, I told him what happened and he asked what colour mine was. It turned out we had the same horse when he'd done a trip and she'd done exactly the same thing to him, slow on the road, mental on the beach, except he'd actually fallen off and hurt himself. So glad I got off/glad it wasn't just me. It's so bad they even give that horse to people, especially if they have a novice rider, so dangerous.

Thankfully the others were still there for the fishing trip so after a quick change and them all apologising for their Sarah love-a-thon yesterday when they were all drunk, we headed out with Sarah and Luke who were on my ride. I didn't fish as I don't really like it but all the others did. They did pretty awesomely too as they caught 36 between them. Riley got 7 of those and Fiona (despite being really scared in the beginning) got 4. By the time we were going to leave Grace still hadn't got one so one of the guys who ran the fishing trip gave her his wooden stick fishing thing and she got one. We're all not that certain though whether he'd actually already caught it and then just gave her the line after! We had to rush back as there was a massive storm coming in and made it back just in time.

They all had their fish for dinner which was pretty tasty, proud little hunters! Sarah and I went to where Carlo was staying to do internet duties after but not before finding a tarantula in her room, I don't think she was very happy. I was fairly pleased though, 2nd live tarantula and 3rd overall. Not bad! We all went to bed pretty earlier as we have to leave at 7am tomorrow. However earlier that day I'd found some poo on my mattress but I was just like, 'ah well' and covered it over with my sheet. Unfortunately when I was going to get into bed I saw some on my pillow too. Hannah you would definitely be proud of me because all I did was go ask for a new pillow case and went to bed. That's growth I tell you!
