After checking out the sites I attempted to get breakfast, pretty much everything was closed but I finally found somewhere that was open before realising that I'd managed to leave my purse under my pillow back at the hostel. Dick. I quickly hopped in a taxi and explained I needed to go to my hostel, get my stuff, come back to town and then go to the bus station. The driver seemed pretty confused but we managed to do it all in time for my 8:30am bus. Score.
It's absolutely pissing it down with rain today but I still went for a wander around the market as I had half an hour till the bus left. Also had to pay for a toilet which was effectively a piece of wood with a hole in the middle. Mmm sanitary. I also wanted to take some photos of the fish on the market but decided to be polite and ask if I could and the woman rudely told me no, bitch. So I took one anyway. Got back on the bus which didn't leave until 9:30, which meant I had been there for an hour and a half, I'm seriously not having much luck with travel at the moment.
Eventually arrived in Rivas after sharing my seat with 2 other people most of the way, I'm nice like that, and literally rushed off to find a toilet after throwing my bag at an American couple and asking them to watch it. After I eventually got back they'd nicely loaded it onto the bus for me which was packed. I ended up squashed at the back propping up a cooler box that definitely contained fish. Wonderful! The drive was actually ok though, it was pretty short and there were some nice views. There was also a really cute dog who went mental when his owners got home, bless.
When I got to San Juan I jumped in a taxi as I knew it was unlikely I would get a bed as Naked Tiger was packed and Ben and Jack had been staying on the sofa the night before. Amazingly I actually managed to get a bed but it was the only one available that day as a massive group of New Zealanders turned up shortly after me and they all had to stay on the sofa's/hammocks. Did a bit of sunbathing before heading into town to buy some alcohol from the shop as this hostel actually lets you drink your own alcohol which is pretty handy, and money saving! Some of the New Zealanders though wanted to get some coke, I eventually found out that Naked Tiger is apparently notorious for drug taking but I honestly saw hardly anything. However I really don't know why people would risk buying stuff like that out here, can you imagine if you got caught? I honestly think it's not worth it. So some of us waited for them to come back before we got bored and went and got our alcohol and found a cool parrot that could talk and then mimiced your laughter. The only vodka they had in the shop was either 5 plus distilled...really don't think that exists or was called extra suave! Thought they would both be as liver/stomach destroying as the other and just went for the cheapest!
As I have literally bought the shitest clothes with me on this trip, for fear of getting my bag stolen, I have absolutely nothing to wear for going out. Luckily Grace took pity on me and lent me one of her tops, love staying with girls! Just chilled around until Ben and Jack came back and then started to play some drinking games. One of them Lash Monopoly, or Lashopoly as I have now called it, had been created on a surfboard by some of the English guys who had got there the night before. It was a Central American version and was actually really cool. Because there were so many of us we ended up being in national teams, I was on Team GB with 4 boys and Ben and Jack ended up on the Irish side. The New Zealanders were rubbish and pretty much gave up playing half way through, except one girl Gina, who was already fairly drunk so I thought it was unfair for her to play on her own and removed NZ from the game!
To buy properties you basically have to drink but there are also some squares with drinking penalites etc on, one square however was - Jump in the pool, I managed to land us on it and agreed to go in but didn't want to get my hair wet. This failed massively as Guy decided to just push me in, thanks mate! We also managed to land on it a second time and I'd only just dried off. I decided to run away and lock myself in the toilet but knew that if I didn't come out I would just be thrown in by one of the American Marines who had just thrown one of the New Zealand girls in. The game eventually petered out and despite the fact that the Irish team were cheating (by moving their pieces, including not getting in the pool!) Team GB won, of course!
After we all headed into town but there were loads of us so all of our group strategically bundled into the van as soon as it arrived so we could definitely get on it. It was still absolutely rammed though, with way too many people on but it was pretty fun. We all sang loads of songs ridiculously loudly, probably looking like absolute louts on the way, but fuck it, it was fun.
We went to one of the only good bars in town, Iguana, which was packed. It was fairly eventful though as Ben, basically had a stalker for the whole night who was an absolute idiot. She was pretty drunk to be fair but was all over him, despite the fact he told her he had a girlfriend and everytime he tried to get away she followed him. She also had a go at me when Ben had dragged me off somewhere to talk to him and when he left to run away she asked me really angrily if I was 'a follower' (never been asked that before), I pointed out that I was Ben's friend which she stropily told me she was too...no that's why he keeps trying to get away from you, you little mentalist. Idiot. To be fair Ben didn't really help the situation, he was way too nice to her and when we left he told her where we were going....Jack and I have decided that he loves the attention and have been winding him up about it since then.
Tim almost got into a fight which of course, I ended up trying to sort out. I went over and liased with the other group and persuaded them just to ignore what was going on and not start something and then I had to go and calm Anton down, who wasn't really involved but despite being one of the nicest guys ever apparently has anger management problems. It all got sorted in the end though. Alcohol does not mix well sometimes!
We all went to the Crazy Crab afterwards which was absolutely empty so me, Ben and Jack decided to sit on the beach having a beer. while I hid my possessions in case someone tried to rob us! Ben and I did a bit of beach gymnastics, which apparently he is awesome at but couldn't do a hand stand :P
Made it back for the 3am shuttle and just chilled out by the pool with Ben before I dragged myself to bed throughly knackered at 5am. Awesome, awesome day!!
