Where I stayed
I then spent the night on my own in the jungle listening to all of the noises which usually would be great but after all the recent encounters I was super paranoid and awaiting another attack. Something was on the roof, mid conversation with myself in my head about what it could be my brain sensibly replied, 'a lion'. Right! I have therefore come to the conclusion that I like the idea of staying in the jungle but actually I fucking hate it. I also slept with the light on, cool right?
Had to get up at 5;30am to get a bus so I'm understandably exhausted! Was meant to be getting a 7am bus but it didn't leave until gone 8am. The first part was awesome, lying on two seats in the sun. And then it got packed and hot and took way longer than it should have and with no toilet stops for 4 and a half hours! I also bought some fruit from a street vendor and offered some to one of the guatemalan tribe women on the bus only for her to take the whole thing!! Thank god I ate all the pineapple before I offered it or I would have been gutted!
Headed to the boat dock and waited for the boat. Made some friends with the guys who worked there who kept telling me I was beautiful. Seriously I honestly don't think they see past the golden hair because if they did they would see the sweaty mess under it! Met a cool Australian girl on the boat and found she's doing the same thing as me but in reverse which is a shame. The boat trip was pretty cool, they took us to a fort and to this area of trees where there were tons of black and white cranes.
Finally arrived at my hotel, Finca Tatin. It's really nice, right on the water in the jungle (thankfully I'm not on my own this time and I have a mosquito net lol). There's quite a few people here and lots to do, you can rent canoes etc. Wish I had longer to be fair! Had a communal dinner which was YUM! I headed to the toilet and did my standard spider/bug check and BOOM! on the roof was a freaking tarantula! None of the staff believed it was one but I was totally convinced. I got Paulo (one of the guys working here) to look, he also didn't believe me till he saw it and what do you know, tarantula. Finally the bug lady skills pay off!!!!
