After a nice thai dinner at a local restaurant, I made my way to the main train station to purchase a ticket to get the heck out of dodge tomorrow! I knew I had been in Bangkok too long when I helped two English ladies figure out the subway system!
Since the trains to Chiang Mai are booked until Wednesday night, I've decided to turn my whole trip upside down. Originally, I was going to leave Bangkok and head north to Chiang Mai to do some hill tribe trekking. After that I had planned on making my way down through the country with stops at various National Parks. A common theme in all those activities is walking and right now, that's the last thing I want to do. Right before I left, Terra told me to take care of my feet because if something happened to them, it'd ruin my trip! Talk about irony! This contributed to my decision to go south first. I'm hitting the island of Koh Tao first which is said to be one of the best places to get your scuba diving certification. More swimming, less walking! I may island hope a little depending on how I feel. The only downside to this plan is that there is a full mom part on another southern island this weekend and I hope I don't get stuck with a bunch of drunk idiots on my island too. Ah well...
So anyways, tomorrow night I leave Bangkok at 10:50 pm on a train bound for Chumporn. The train arrives the next morning at 6:00 am and at 7:00 am I'm taking an express catamarn to Koh Tao. No reservation yet for accomodations - I figure I'll set that up once I get there.
