I had food in front of me almost as soon as I popped into the Diem Diem shop in Hoi An.  The family has grown as Diem has 20 month old twins and the family picked up 3 stray girls from the north.  So basically I escaped Vancouver to get away from a family of shrieking girls only to come 3,000 miles  to another household of shrieking girls.  Some bad Dharma there somewhere.  Anyhow, I'm not alowed to pay for anything in this city.  They buy me beer, took me to pagodas, got me a bike to take to the beach, and kept things pretty simple.

Other than that, I took a local ferry, read little junk boat, over to the village of Kim Bong.  I had a great half day just wondering around.  Farmers would look quizically as I wondered through the rice paddies taking snap shots.  I got a chance to take a closer work at the carpentry places that the village is famous for.

The trip to the beach was fun.  I propped myself against the tree and hung out with the beach vendors.  Normally I wouldn't buy anything but they were having a crappy day so I bought a couple of packets of gum.  I'd say that I've experienced less of a hassle from anybody during this visit to Vietnam.  It must be a combination of me answering in Vietnamese most of the time and/or that I'm carrying myself differently.  I haven't really had my patience tried at all during this trip.

I got 7 shirts and a hat in Hoi An so I completed my shopping goals.  One last trip to Saigon before I head home.

Yeah, but I bet their shrieking girls don't tell you to 'stop bothering me, Uncle Jim'. :) Katherine misses you.
