After leaving New York City we drove into New Jersey and spent a couple of days at Atlantic City.  What a nice surprise to get there and find out that we had "comps" from our last couple of trips to Vegas.  We had a great hotel room: ocean view, king size bed, nice big bath tub, + room service for $13.00 a night (taxes)!!  Cheaper than a campground and it was so nice to have a couple nights of  luxury!!  We checked out the boardwalk for a while; it was pretty deserted this time of the year, and it was very, very windy the days we were there.  It cracked me up to see the "strollers" for rent--hire this little enclosed thing with a guy to push you up & down the boardwalk!!  I was dying laughing to see only the fat people in the strollers.  Laughing my head off too as I explain to Ike why I don't like seagulls (has to do with the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds")  He doesn't like them 'cuz they poop everywhere--showing me a fresh spot on the rail as we speak, and then he leans right into it with his brand new shirt on!!  Too funny!  -- and he doesn't appreciate my humor a bit!!  I don't care--I'm still laughing!!

It looks like it could be a fun place to visit in the summer time.  Auggie finally got to get out on the beach and run for a little bit after being cooped up all day every day when we were in New York.  It's too bad that it was soooo windy--the dog didn't even want to run too much.  Trying to walk the beach was like being sandblasted.  Our first night there, Ike was having fun down in the casino and winning a little bit, and all I could think about was a nice hot bath!!  I left him at "Wheel of Fortune" and went upstairs, called room service for a lovely shrimp scampi dinner and settled into my nice hot bath since they told me it would be 45 minutes for my meal to arrive.  Wouldn't ya know that room service had my wonderful hot meal up to me as soon as I settled into the tub!!  Our casino was "dog-friendly" so Auggie got to stay in a nice room, too.  I told Ike I was really starting to feel like a "blue-hair", packing my little dog through a casino!!!  After we got our fill of contributing our hard earned money to the economy of Atlantic City, we drove down to Cape May, which is the very most southern tip of New Jersey and had another lobster dinner at the "Lobster House".  This time it was a 3 pounder!

It's time to head to Washington DC so we drive through Delaware (what a tiny state!) and Maryland.  Ike is really starting to get tired of stopping at all the toll boths and paying, paying, paying to drive on really crappy roads. Maryland is our 21st state since September 12th!
