Cars were washed all over the place and one entire little berg, Bridgewater, Vermont was completely destroyed.
The weather has been glorious and again the countryside with the big farms, huge old houses and inns and the colorful trees has had me gawking the entire route!
It's hard to believe that we have been in shorts and tank tops for days and have been warm trying to sleep at night and it's nearly mid-October!!
We are finally in Maine on Sunday night and Ike is getting very excited about going to have a lobster!!
So glad we have decided to head to Georgetown because we are driving up the coastal route and I had no idea that southern Maine is so absolutely beautiful. Maybe the fact that it's 86 degrees and the beaches are packed with people just like summertime, and the leaves have taken a dramatic turn in just the last 24 hours has an impact on our day.
No matter the cause, we had another perfect drive and it took us all day to get from the southern tip of Maine to Portland, a distance of a whopping 52 miles if we were on freeway!! Had to stop in Portland along the waterfront and enjoy the last of the sun, and we were starving!--so an outside cafe, cold local microbrew "blueberry beer", lobster roll and live music really hit the spot!!
Today it is up the coast to Georgetown, then we will turn around and head south for New York City for a few days. Don't know how long the weather will hold out for us, but we're going to push it all the way!!
