Here are some photo's of our epic trek from Jeti Oghuz to Altyn Arashyn. It is advised to do the trek over 5 days or 4 as a minimum. Instead we managed to cover the territory which included: 3 mountain passes, steep descents, hail storms, fording rivers, new friends and a wonderful lake; in 3 days. Somehow we managed to keep bodies, minds, nerves and dignities in shape.

Each of the mountain passes was an awesome encounter with the elements and, of course, with what lay on the other side. Some photos feature views from these passes.

Ala Kol lake was probably the most spectacular scenery of the trip - an extraordinary teal green lake walled in by sheer mountain slopes on all sides bar for an impressive glacier on the east side which feeds it and a discrete pass which drains it on the west side Flowers

Another remarkable aspect of the landscape was the altitude of the alpine forest eccosystem which is in the range of 1800m - 3000m, probably a full 1000m above the Swiss Alpine.

After such a testing trek, we spent two lazy nights at a little lodge in the Altyn Arashyn valley and enjoyed a good soak in a nearby hot spring (photo provided).

Also, some of the friends from our trek feature in the photo's. We will hope to upload more photo's thast show the whole party (at one stage 7 people). At least the two indespensible Israeli lads - Yonaton and Stav - are featured in all their hirsutian glory.
