We are back and well.
We have just trekked around Nanga Parbat's southern "Rupal" face up to the Mozeno High Camp (4800m). It was fantastic.
The Rupal face is the single highest rise in elevation in the world - a 4500m high, near vertical face.
"Nanga Parbat" in Urdu actually means "Naked Mountain" apparently because Rupal Face is too steep for snow to cling to its surface, exposing dark rock for nearly all the year. It is also perhaps the most notorious of mountains in the world with an infamous climb/death ratio. Hence, it has earned other names such as "Killer Mountain", "Death Mountain" and my personal favourite "The Widow Maker". Thankfully, our aspirations were modest enough not to invite confirmation of such names.
We will hopefully upload a photo or two, but frankly, the internet is slow going up here on the roof of the world.
ciaociao
