Another full day in old London town!

Started it with a trip to Leister Square with the hope of getting a cheap theatre ticket at a last minute discounted ticket booth there - success, and with my 1st choice - Mary Poppins! How exciting! While i was in the area, I checked out the National Portrait gallery (highlights here were the actual originals of henry xiii and the blur picture and shakespeare, really cool) and the National Photographer's Gallery. There was a really cool and creative exhibit about a guy who spent 6 years hitchiking....

Next was a trip to Elephant and Castle, which is where the SA THQ is and the trade, or the Salvo shop...had a little look around and bought a little book about army history. They had a really nice collage in the reception at THQ.

Went round to southbank next for a little wander and to try my luck in either today's or tomorrow's matinee at Shakespeare's globe - no luck unfortunatly. Had a look at the town hall and watched some kids and not-kids playing in a fountain. Crazy - I had my hooded jacket zipped right up, making full use of the hood feature and they were playing in a fountain. Crazy poms!

Went to st paul's cathedral for a little look. Not sure how i feel about having to pay $21 to look at a church, but i did it regardless. Not a shabby looking church either. Had a look at the crypt, which is home to the bodies of florence nightingale (her inscription reads blessed are the meek) and john donne, who was the poet known for penning the infamous lines "no man is an island." He was also a deacon of the church for some time. I went right up the top, which is pretty close to 500 steps. Worth it though, what a view.

Next was a trip to the London Museum. Very interesting. Traces the history of London from the Ice Age and then the roman rule, and then the plague, (and a few other things in between) till the 1600's when the great fire struck.

And Mary Poppins? Practically perfect in every way.
