hallo Österreich!
Entry 21 of 27 | show all | print this entry |
Ciao Italia und Hallo Österreich! So excited about German speaking countries!
A beautiful drive this morning past the Italian Dolarmites and though them as well, there were a few tunnels built right through the middle of a few of them.
Once past the Italian border, there was a dramatic change of scenery. Houses were now Austrian style with slanted roofs, different looking mountains covereed with perfectly proportioned pine trees, just like a christmas card without the snow. there was a beautiful lake in front of a mountain, and the colour of the water was unlike any i had ever seen...a milky pale greeny bluey colour. lots of dry river beds zoomed past as well...
stopped for lunch at velden, a picturesque little town on a lake. was dreadfully excited to be able to ask for ,ein hamburger ohne fleisch bitte,. auch, ein apfelstrudel. mmm...lecker!
bit more driving, (long day - 7.45am - 6pmish) then tonight, a classical music concert!
