The northern province of Rajasthan is awash with all the colours of India. Two weeks into our tour of the area, we've stayed at the amazing haveli on the silk route in Mandawa, dressed in traditional costume in Bikaner, had a candlelit dinner on the fort terrace overlooking the 'blue city', Johdpur, celebrated Diwali with the Indian holiday-makers (and been deafened by the firecrackers!) at Mt. Abu, re-enacted James Bond Octopussy at the Lake Palace in Udaipur and Chas has shopped in the colourful bazaars for carpets and silk paintings everywhere!
The highlight however has got to be the compulsory overnight camel safari in Jaisalmer. Throughout the 2 hour camel ride into the desert, we expected to see a pristine tented-camp after every turn. Unfortunately at sunset, we realised it was not our lucky day when handed a blanket and pointed in the direction of the nearest sand dune. To our surprise, a night under the stars was the best and the sunrise over the desert well worth getting up early for - especially as we caught a UFO sighting (see the photo attached).

Spices of life
Yo,
You two look like you're having a fab time and India looks amazing! The stories are fantastic and the picture accompaniments, first class. Love the colours and sights, I can almost imagine being there. You must have had some amazing experiences and learnt some wonderful stuff! Keep up the good work and stay safe. Missing you both.
Cheers,
Dunc and Sar. x
PS. Chas, keep up the beard effort - the clocks go back this weekend here, and I too shall be 'growing my winter coat'.
Spices of Looife!!!
Hello there you two. Know we've been out of touch a bit lately but couldn't help looking at the photos from the land of the Rogan Josh. Liked the pic of Chas dancing ... reminded me of Cardiff when we used to go out together. His dress sense hasn't improved since then either :-) Greetings to India from a very wet and grey Cardiff. The Wilsons.
