BELINDA'S BLOG
The kids woke up still quite tired this morning so we planned a fairly quiet day. We had our grand breakfast as we had done yesterday - with Greg really out-doing himself again. At least it's not chips I guess! Today it was raining q fair bit so we dodged the rain where we could....we set off to walk in the direction of Circular Quay and the Sydney Opera House. We walked along the end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and were able to look over the boats at the quay from a high view point. Down on the quay there were a few street buskers that kept the kids attention for a bit, although Greg thought it was all rubbish!
We walked along to the Opera House and decided to take a guided tour - which was really interesting. Whilst we were being shown around we got to look at people rehearsing in both the auditoriums. In one a male ballet star was preparing for the evening's performance of Swan Lake - it was great to be able to watch this for a short while.... in the other a flautist was going over some sections for the evening too. The acoustics were amazing with no electronic amplification - it was still very clear. I really enjoyed being shown round and watching a few short video clips about the creation and construction of the whole project. I don't think the kids were that impressed though. They'll thanks me in years to come!!!
Mid afternoon we wandered back to the hotel to have something of a lazy afternoon. However, with the potential for all three to spend many hours on their Gameboys, we decided to go down to the Hotel Swimming Pool for a bit. Greg did not want to join us, so he sat in the pool area fully clothed - reading his book! I quite enjoyed sitting in the jacuzzi while the other two played with the water toys they'd bought at the Aquarium yesterday. We have all generally come to the point where we have no clean underwear, so when we got back from the pool, I spent a good hour washing some "smalls" in the sink and bath in the bathroom! (OK - my smalls aren't so small!!!) They are now hung out over the bath and about our room drying off - it looks like a laundry in here, not the bedroom of a 5* hotel!!! Dot Cotton would be proud!
Off to bed now - I've had a really niggly cough for the past few days - not sure if it's affected by the air-conditioning, but it's aggravated when I go to bed and wake up. It's a pain as I worry that I might wake the kids up. Mind you - some nights I'm surprised that Phillip's teeth grinding doesn't do that to poor Jenny anyway! Can you imagine the noises that must come from the four of us when we are all asleep! Hope any friends and family that are reading this are OK - thanks for the comments! It's nice to hear back from you! x More thumbnails ...
