Chicago! and all, that, jazz!

After andig at Chicago's O'Hare airport, I was faced with a long 6 hour wait. Too short to go out and see the City, but long enough to go crazy in the airport. It was strange being in an U.S airport. I went to the bar to order a beer to relax (and why not, I had 6 hours to sip it) but the tender couldn't serve me! legal age is 21 in the U.S. I completely forgot! In Canada the age is 19 (unless you're in Quebec, the age is 18 and merely a suggestion!) and when I lived in England I turned 18 weeks after I arrived (the legal age in the UK is 18) so it has been a long time since I have been unable to order alcohol. I was a little emabarrased and felt like a child! Oh well, no big deal.

While I was waiting in line to check into my Asiana flight, I met a South Korean woman named Sang Hee Park. She was so friendly and intelligent. Her Engish was very good and she was very good to peak with. It was refreshing to have some company. We mostly just hung out and spent time talking about culture, Korea, teaching and how greasy American food is. We talked about her boyfiend and I showed her a photo of my ex. It was a good time, I even helped her shop for gifts for her friends in Korea!

I really do love to travel. There are so many invaluable opportunities to connect and learn from people as long as one is open to recognizing them.

Right now I'm about 11 hours into my flight to Korea. Asiana airlines are awesome! Great food (and lot's of it, I had the Soba noodle and bi-bim-bab with fruit and a heineken) constant refreshments, very friendly and accomodating staff and the even give you pillows, blankets and socks and toothbrush/paste for your flight! Admittedly, I did sleep through about half of my flight in half hour blocks. Airplanes are not the easiest things to sleep on. I'm glad I'm quite bendy because you practically have to be contortionist to find a comfortable position on these long flights but that all comes with the territory of travel I suppose, in which case, I welcome it gladly... at least I finally got that beer I was hoping for!
