This has been a pretty interesting week.
The day after my camera was stolen (in a prevous blog) I came home to find that my laptop had bee stolen as well.
I absolutely flipped out. I couldn't believe it! who would do something like this, especially just days before I leave the country when I will be tight for cash and in most need of a camera for memories and computer for communication with friends and family back home. I was terribly upset. I practically tore my house apart searching for it.

I called the police both days to file a report. On the second day the officer went to question my housemates about what had happened and whe he spoke to my housemate Joey, he knew he was lying and began to search his room. It didn't take him too long to find my camera that had been stolen just a couple days before from my home. Joey went on to say that he found the camera lying on the ground on Front Street, a busy and very questionable part of town. The officer knew much better than to believe this poor story. He went on to pressure Joey into telling us where the laptop was. Unfortunately we ended up having to make a deal with Joey that basically said that if he told us where the computer was he wouldn't be charged for it. I wish now that we had been able to formally charge him with the thefts, however, if he didn't tell us we would never have found the laptop. He had hid it in an unused fireplace behind a protective plating.

The thing that burns me most about this is that when I foun my laptop missing, he actualy came down and pretended to be concerned. "I can't believe someone is doing this to you" he said. He even offered to help me find it. He is one snakey piece of...work.

On the upside, I got my computer and camera back. my external harddrive was broken and he was order to pay me for a replacement but I will probably never see that money. oh well. on to China!!!
