Here I am, thinking that 11 days from now I will be on my plane, likely just about to hit the Pacific Ocean. I can't wait!
Sittin in my desk, or rather, laying in my chair with my feet propped up on my desk not caring if my boss sees because i just finished emailing him my resignation last week. I've only got three more shifts after this one. Somehow working the 9:30PM-6:00AM graveyard shift at a technical call center all summer seems worth it. It's a pretty lame job but it was all worth it... it funded my trip to China!
Finding out that they needed me there immediately was a bit of a thrill. they contacted me less than a week ago by email and asked me to be in Changchun ASAP. Finding a flight wasn't hard, i checked online and called all of the local travel agencies and went to the lowest (and quickest) bidder. If anyone is interested in travel to China, contact Rawson Travel in Belleville, Ontario. they were quick, polite, helpful and economical!
Anyway, back to my exciting last week... after getting my ticket i immediately called to cancel all my utilities and figure out final bill payments (which i have yet to make). I wrote my resignation that night at work and called my landlord to inform him of my impending vacancy
So, i've all but quit my job, moved out of my house and cut off all of my lifelines... sweet. all that's left for me to do is get my visa from the Chinese consulate in Toronto on Monday and find a place to store all of my stuff.
It won't be too easy though. I have a lot of people I will be leaving behind... my girlfriend Chantel, my mother, my friends, family, my kitten Homegirl... it'll be a great experience but I am worried about the cost to my relationships. We will see how it all fares.
Wish me luck in my preparation and travels!
