Wander around Cirebon giving us our first sight of a becak ('baychak' a three wheeled bike with seats for two on the front, seats for up to five if your local)
. Cirebon is smaller quieter and more local than Jakarta as you would expect, but the people are a lot more pushy . One guy not taking the hint for the past two days. However small it is packed with Palaces five in total, with the mission of finding the most impressive, Keraton Kesepuhan, we set off to the south of the town.
After two hours maybe more we had traveled off the bottom of our map, asking for direction simply pointing and saying Keraton, we eventually end up there, we hope going forward our sight seeing will be more deliberate.
Run out of time, to come next time: Palace and Temple stay tuned.
Love to all Bill and Sarah (ps just had first cup of local coffee buzzing to say the least you kind of eat it!)
Leaving Jakarta, on a lovely business class train, (here's one for you Josh) including a free snack! Two dough balls peanut and strawberry filled. The train also had a film, standard plot underdog pillow fighter finds secret sensai and overcomes evil pillow fighter!! The ride takes us past the most enormous paddy rice fields, and Bill's favourite a man with a whole door attached to his bike riding along the road. We arrived in Cirebon ('Chirebon') with the plan to head down away from the Station as the guide book warned against issues and prostitutes, in hotels opposite the station. Head for a reasonably priced (cheap compared to Jakarta) hotel. Lovely basic however mosquito net essential, between us rig up an amazing contraption for securing.
