An easy start to South America, Santiago is a cross between London (concrete, dense, dirty) and Madrid (vibrant, noisey, lots of traffic) so we felt quite at home. Found some decent bars and cafs, intended to visit Valparesio on the coast one day but suffered delayed jet lag and couldnt get to sleep till 6am. Great views from the San Cristobal hill overlooking town. We went twice, once in the cable car - cool - and once walking - not cool, in fact very very hot.
