We HAVE internet!
After driving through parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, we arrived at the Highland Inn around 7:30. The hotel is in the Virginia Highlands area of Atlanta, which is kind of a trendy artsy area outside of the industrial hustle and bustle of the city (in fact, we edidn't have to drive on any of the city streets at all to get here). The hotel is old, quirky and funky...but comfortable. It reminds jenni of the long branch house, minus the duct tape and cardboard coffee table of course.
The restaurant attached to the hotel, Eclipse di Sol, was an artsy-yuppie food type of place with modern art on the walls, red candles everywhere, and lots of people that we swear were scooped up from the village in NYC and plopped inside. The atmosphere was lively and the food was good. Afterwards, we went to this club down the road called Blind Willie's, where we listened to some more excellent blues by a group called the Shadows, and the House-Rocker Johnson(who came to the stage in a red outfit, complete with boots, hat and guitar--all red).
Now we're ready for sleep before our trudge to Virginia tomorrow.
