Hello all
Thought it was time I made another entry, especially as it is very religious here, so it basically shuts all shops over the Easter period, (stephen you can tell mum and dad that I have been invited to go to church on Easter Sunday and I thought it would be cool to go, I am sure they will be pleased!)
This will not be as good an entry as i hoped as i had planned to upload all my cool photos but i have spent the last hour trying to do it in different shops and apparantly the computers are not quick enough in Tonga, so you are gonna have to wait till New Zealand to see any pics. (I leave to go to New Zealand on the 12th of April so think I am almost half way through Tonga and what a good few weeks it has been!
Since I last wrote I have played against the Tonga U19 International team. They were practising for their World Cup Qualifier and played a match against the team I am playing for "Fanga". It was a massacre, I forget that although they are U19 they start puberty here at about 2years old so they are all men not boys. But not normal men, beasts, who like hurting people and being hurt! It was a really cool experience though, one that i wont forget.
On the coaching front we are still at the same school but now as there are now four "coaches" we have started at another school as well. St Andrews, they are a lot poorer but the kids are awesome, they just love playing and mucking about, discipline is a slight problem though as some of the better kids keep getting sent home earlier in the day for fighting. Now i have seen some pretty good fights where the kids just get a little telling off. So to actually get sent home they must have beeb pretty bad! Would have been great to watch though!
On the going out front we now have a very dysfunctional crew which is great fun. It consists of 4 of us in the house, plus the canadian leader, our other flat mate a 41 year old, add a load of American Peace Corps a couple of Australian volunteers and finally last but by no means least the Mormons. What a bunch of mentalists. They are quite fun though, and never a dull moment, I can just ask them questions about their lifestyle and it will keep me amused for hours! Most nights we are either out in town drinking or watching DVDs, on the days when we have taught in the school then coached rugby and then trained with the mens team I am normally fairly knackard and fall asleep after some food cooked by our maid. Oh yeah i didnt mention that did I? We have a maid, she cooks, cleans does our washing and all the price of about 30 pounds a week! Its a hard life. We are contributing to the economy though! Well, kind of. She loves it, especially dealing with 4 english guys pants after we leave them for her over the weekend to stew!
Thats about it, very active in the day, and having a good crack in the evenings, when Im not sleeping. Have a good weekend lined up, going out tonight, tomorrow going for an adventure on the bikes, then a party at ours in the evening. We have one of the biggest houses in Tonga, then sunday church? and Monday is a Bank Holiday so the rugby team are taking us to the beach, we all bundle on a truck and then they kill a couple of pigs and eat them! Quality!
To carry on my little fact in each entry, some of you may wonder why I titled this entry "Land where time begins" well that is because Tonga is the first place to see a new day, along with somewhere in Eastern Russia! Interesting hey, well I thought it was!
Love you all, dont be afraid to email me as its always nice to get them, if anything just to look a bit more popular than Toby!
love you
