Tikal, Guatemala

Today I visited the huge and amazing ruins of Tikal, which I'm told is the second largest Mayan city ruins that exist, and only 20% have been excavated which leaves a lot more to be seen. The temples tower high above, and it's funny to see and almost ancient metropolis towering above a thick layer of jungle. There's a point after climbing one temple, where you can view the other tower peaks that stick out through the trees, and all that surrounds is lush green jungle even these days where nothing is left untouched, I still could not spot anything modern or even a clearing used for crops and farming, which is often the case elsewhere in Costa Rico, Hondurus and throught South America.
