Called up 'on-loan' to international, a local side short of players. with no keeper, i was asked to fill the gap against a team they had previously lost 10-0 to earlier in the season.. after taking the league, we duly trailed 3-1 at the break, at which point i moved out field and helped steady the ship to a mini comeback... 4-4. ahem.
Never play sport here unless you've been training in acclimatised condions! as we conceded our fourth, i was heading back to goal at such a rate in an attempt to clear the lines i totally neglected to try and stop.. with the net looming i looked for a form of break and duly grabbed on to the cross bar. my lengs carried on going whilst my torso stopped. and then my hands slipped and i crashed to the floor with a crack of every vertabrae in my body. a mild concussion later, i carried on but with the odd star in my field of vision. yay
needless to say that today, i'm waddling around with a dehydration head and limbs made of mdf.
But, i managed to make it in to town and visit the Old Ford factory, a museum on the site of South East Asia's first car plant, and latterly the site of the British surrender to the Japs in WW2. it was smaller than i expected, but there is some really nice stuff in there and nice exhibits. Although i was disapointed that the only bit relating to the car history is in the car park. and on the walk back, saw a monkey at the bus stop. i don't know if he was waiting for the bus or was just waiting for his mates, but he was there all the same. not something i see everyday!
