Mongolia... wow.

In hindsight it is still such a fantastic place, and i'm only sorry i didn't have more time to explore it. I'd have loved to have gone deep in to the Gobi, and up to the White lakes and experience even more of the nations hospitality. I still can't get over how nice these people are! I've heard that that there is a London to UB rally every year (www.mongolrally.com) and the only pre-requisite is that your car is worth less than 100quid. I'm sure i could pick up an mg for that :D

We managed to get to Zamin Uud on the south east border with China relatively easily on the domestic train, which cost a fraction of the price of the weekly trans-mongol version. however the latter does actually take you over the border.. this is something we had to work out for ourselves!! The route the train took was pretty awesome, having missed the delights of the Gobi, we were treated to excellent views of sandy deserts and dunes with the occasional nomadic gerr dotted about. However, with the windows open due to the lack of air con, the amount of dust brought in to the carriage was unbelievable. When i woke up i looked like i had used a weeks worth of hairspray and died my hair white. Not a good look.
