So... Irkutsk. We arrived at what we incorrectly believed to still be 3 hours ahead of Moscow time, but oh no. We're actually on Beijing time here, meaning 8 hours ahead. Now for someone that has spent the last 2 weeks quietly between UK and Moscow time, this sudden 8 hour leap has hit hard. Sleep dammit sleep. Body was havin none of it... until 11am when i collapsed and woke at 3! oh well.
This meant that we actually arrived at 3am this morning having told the hostel we'd be there at midday, we thought it best not to turn up just yet. So we tried to crash in the station. i couldn't sleep. helen was knackered but couldn't get comfy on the steel seats. We lasted til 6.30am... jumped in a taxi and got promptly dropped off no-where near where we wanted to be. Finally we got there, and i think we woke the woman up, cos she was grumpy... it was 7am i suppose so she had every right!
We've just done the preliminaries of Irkutsk and it seems a really nice town, much more my kind of place, and whats more the forecast is for 30 degrees later in the week!

Well it all sounds wonderful.. I'd like to update you with the happenings back here... I'm sure it will arouse feelings of home and balance out the jelousy.. ok maybe not but for a reminder of why your there and not here...
The University has opened the new Gateay building... finally students have a smart funky building to get help in so I'm moving offices... i've cleaned out my old fridge and flogged it for £15 which will no doubt go on a couple of bottles of wine to be sunk in the beautiful surroundings of my decorated bedroom oh and the sun is actually out.. we've hit 25 degrees... nothing compared to your 50 but I'm sure you'll miss seeing the steamy haze rising from hylton road. Enjoy!
I'm not jealous!! Well ok...yes I am
