well, here we are in sunny.. no, overcast and showery moscow. were staying in the north east quater on the red line of the underground. This place is absolutely hugenormous, it really is. We had a bit of trouble finding the place where were staying, but got there in the end after combatting the language, metro and brake neck taxi drivers.
It's not luxurious, just nice. Apparently according to the web site, it's quite typical of what russian city households are like in moscow. nothing like a bit of ethnicity. i always liked bunk beds anyway... Our only other fellow guest is Sean a guy from Montreal who got up to answer the door after we arrived in the middle of the night. he showed us the vicinity including shops and streets.. well, thats about it, but it was midnight. Not quite got to grips with crossing their crazy massive roads yet. we got told off for a policeman for trying to j walk. (Note to self; don't do it again!)
Went into moscow today. i'd like to say this morning, but it wasn't. as prophesised by my dad, breakfast was a very late affair! Ended up outside the kremlin and just wandered around through the parks. It was nice to get an idea of the area before we do hardcore touristy bits tomorrow and friday!
The roads are mental at points... about 8 lanes wide and you can just smell unburnt petrol amongst the smog. it's a bit of a sensual overload, the noise, the smoke and the smells... i'm from chorley for christs sake!!
this computer doesn't like my camera, so, til i find some where slightly more technically advanced, we're running blind.
Take care people
Mikey
