Woke up at the frightfully early time of 5:30am and showered and packed up in time to catch the 6:30 bus to the airport. We then changed buses to the one taking us to the train station in Venice. Then we got on a train at 7:50. It was a three and half hour train ride to Milan where we had a 10 minutes in which to buy lunch and find our next train. The final leg was almost 5 hours to the southern French town of Nice.
We found our hotel, showered again, and then set off to surprise some special people - Megan's parents. A few days ago we noticed that we would be in Nice the same time as them, something none of us had picked up before. We found their hotel but were only able to find one of their friends in their room, and discovered the parents had gone to Monaco for the afternoon. So we stayed at the hotel chatting until Steve and Judy turned up and where very suitably surprised!
We were then of course treated to drinks and one of our best meals out in a long time.
