Lazy Day
Entry 42 of 106 | show all | print this entry |
Another very lazy morning, as we slept in until 10am again. We then went out in search of somewhere to do our washing, as all our clothes have been worn at least three times, and in the sweaty heat of Spain and Portugal, meant they were beginning to smell.
Unfortunately the only place we found was a bit on the expensive side, but worth every cent.
While our clothes were being made clean we bought some yogurt to pour our Muesli into and sat in sun in one of the Plazas. After collecting our clothes we browsed some of the many markets lining the once again cobbled streets.
I got bored of the markets, so in the end left Megan to it, and found a nice cheap Internet place, which is where I am now.
We might do a bit of sight seeing this afternoon, but could maybe do with a day off.
UPDATE 19/10/2006
After going on the Internet I met back up with an unhappy Megan who had not been able to do any shopping because just after I left her, Granada went into Siesta mode and all the shops closed down.
Anyway, we were a bit hungry and for some reason felt like a burger. We walked around for about half an hour before finally finding somewhere that served burgers. The burgers however came out as bright pink pieces of meat. They tasted alright, but it was very hard to get the image of them out of our heads afterwards.
To try and work the burgers off, we went for a steep walk up to the Alhambra, an ancient Moorish mosque, palace and fortress. The road we had followed up somehow side-stepped the ticket office, meaning if we wanted to go into any of the buildings we had to walk all the way back down to buy a ticket. We could not be bothered, so just enjoyed the view from the areas where we were allowed.
We then walked down a quiet cobbled street to the bottom and then up another hill where we happened on a great spot to watch the sunsetting over the Alhambra and the rest of Granada.

Are you keeping up with the water and Vit C? You need to let Megan rest more - are you sure she is okay? Are you still okay? I loved the interpret-able silence in the GPrix. While watching it, I wondered if you were seeing it. I was very excited to see that Fes in Morocco is actually on your itenerary. You'll love it. Take care.
