Sagres
Entry 39 of 106 | show all | print this entry |
I couldn't belive our luck with getting a TV for the day of a Grand Prix. After missing the last two races, I was expecting to not see another one until next Season, however I woke up at 6am this morning and channel surfed. I had two choices, to either watch it in Portugese or German. I started off with the Portugese, but they had too many Ads so swapped to the German, thinking that since I coudnt understand it I wouldn't notice the bias. However the shocked silence that followed Schumachers engine failure was very easy to interpret.
We finally left our room at 10am to go and find breakfast. Taking advantage of our location we decided to have a full English breakfast for the first time. It was delicious!!! At 12:10 we took a bus to the town of Sagres (6km away from the South Western tip of Europe). Once again we had believed the LP which had made this town sound amazing. It was horrible. But luckily it had a nice beach, where we sunned ourselves for two hours until the next bus back to Lagos.
We plan to go out for another nice meal tonight. We have found that no matter how expensive a place is we spend the same money. If it is a cheap place we just treat ourselves more. Tomorrow we head back easy into Spain, before making our way down to Morocco.

Great you could see MS's exit on German Tv. Didn't get to see the GP but the final stages of Bathurst was on at the same time here - one of the best ever races - Lowndes won by seconds from the Kelly brothers, and is now leading the V8 championshipo with two rounds to go. Skaife was on pole, but out on the first lap. Good result at Suzuka though.

Sounds like another world (reply) Oct 10, 2006 04:34 EST by bigd
Been enjoying your latest adventures while safely ensconced in a warm bed, watching Sky movies, while a late winter storm rages outside - Spain & Portugal are more than a world away in every sense - a real adventure for you guys. Have downloaded IE7 which had problems accepting your site, but a little patch has fixed that. Take care...
