( Note from parents - 6 out of 8 of these zip lines were very long ( one nearly 1km long which took 45 seconds), very high ( across tree tops and over rivers) and both kids just leapt up and did them. No fear and loved it. We were impressed.)
We stayed in a hotel near a live volcano. There was no lava now, just steam and smoke from the top, but there was lava 9 months ago. Luckily it didn't erupt while we were there. We walked around the volcano (where we saw a snake in the forest- a small one called an eyelash viper, about a foot long with a nasty bite!) and unfortunately when we were coming back it started to tip down with rain. then went to some hot springs, some hotter some cooler, with many different pools and a great slide into one of them.
The hotel had a great pool overlooking the volcano with a bar you could swim up to, which mummy and daddy liked a lot. Our room had a waterfall in the bathroom and a hot tub (another one) in the garden. We saw lots of tiny hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden.
We tried to go to another place but it had rained so hard that a small river had flooded the road and even in our latest vehicle, "Clive the Four Wheel Drive", we decided it was too fast to get across it (and the people already there could not get back). Mummy said this was a flash flood.
