Our first place in costa rica was Tortuguero, now named Turtleguero. It was a hotel in the rainforest. we got there by boat. It was a great place .we  had to get up at five o clock to go on a boat trip to go into the jungle. We saw some spider monkeys , a mummy and a baby. Then we saw some Jesus Christ lizards - so named as they can run across water, and some Caymans- these are a type of crocodile, but smaller. They were very hard to spot as they lay very still in the water.
When we got back to the camp we saw some howler monkeys by our cottage.
There were loads of them and they were in the trees and on the roofs of the rooms playing, eating and making a lot of noise. One pooped on Daddy's head as he was taking a photo !

The next morning we did nothing except play in the pool which was shaped like a turtle. It was cool. At night we went to see some turtles lay there eggs. they were amazing . They had to dig a huge nest in the sand and then they laid about a hundred eggs. Then they covered up their nest and they had to camouflage it. All this could take about 2 hours. Then they went back exhausted into the sea. Less than 1 in 100 baby turtles survive into the sea because of the predators waiting for them.
We have now adopted a turtle named Adele ( who sang "Rolling in the deep sea") and we can see where she is swimming, which is a long way! She left Costa Rica in July and is now off the coast of Mexico  You can see Adele's amazing journey if you click here too if you want to.
