By Oliver. On Tuesday we hired a houseboat for 3 nights to motor around Lake Shuswap. This is a huge H shaped lake that takes about 6 hours to motor up one of the arms of the H. The houseboat had a slide that went into the lake. THIS WAS GREAT FUN!

We also got to drive the boat. We had two steering wheels – one in the cabin and one on the top deck, next to the hot tub. We got to sit in the hot tub whilst Daddy was driving.

We often stopped in the middle of the lake for a swim – which was sort of warm. Me, Millie and Daddy went down the slide lots of times but Mummy didn't! Me, Millie and Daddy also jumped off the top of the houseboat, which was about 4 metres high. It was quite scary!
At night time we had to find a beach to camp on at the lakes edge. There were no other boats around. We had to drive the boat slowly onto the beach and then hammer stakes into the ground to tie up onto. It was very very quiet, except for the night when we had an amazing thunderstorm, and it rained and rained. The boat rocked and we had to keep checking the ropes were secure.

We were told to watch for bears but none came visiting. So far! We have seen more eagles and Daddy saw some otters.

Great blog! Really making me smile at my desk at work. I noticed that in the picture of Daddy driving the boat, he is wearing the same shorts as he wore on a trip we went on in the 1990's.
