On very short notice, I decided to come down to Huntsville to visit with family and friends. It appears that Jacqui and I will be leaving for Australia next week and we'll probably be in Australia until early/mid-January. Then I've gotta go to Brazil shortly after that. So I wanted to see everyone before the end of the year. Jacqui didn't come down because it was going to be a short trip and she needed to get things finished for work and at home. And I'm heading to see a buddy right after this trip to AL.

Saturday was really good. I got to go bowling and play cards and talk with the family all day. See my brother's daughter(she's a cutie, hopefully she won't grow up with her father's face), and a couple of friends came over with their new son. Seems like lots of people are having kids while we're away...we leave for a trip for a few months, come back, and there's a new baby. I do think my brother's fiancee is a card shark...she just kept winning. But you can't tell with that innocent face of her's.

Then Sunday we all went to Grandma's house. My cousin and her husband brought her baby. 2 other cousins were there, and an aunt and uncle. I think that qualifies as the smallest family get-together we've had...ever! We all even fit around one table! It was really good to see everyone, but I think Grandma's blackberry cobbler stole the show. The only thing that could've garnered more attention would be if you had put blackberry cobbler on the 2 babies. (there's a funny mental pic for ya).

Today I had to get my eyes checked, so I was dilated for about 2 hours right at the brightest point of the day. So now I've got a headache and I'm going to cut this short.

On Wed, I'm flying to Las Vegas for the first time. I'm gonna visit a buddy that moved out there right after college for work. We're gonna spend some good times in the desert.
